What is the Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA)

The UK ETA is not a visa – rather it’s an Electronic Travel Authorisation that is designed to be more efficient and help the UK Government keep track of who’s entering and leaving the country. It’s much simpler and less expensive to apply for a UK visa, but you can still be rejected.

Denials and Appeals

What could be the reason that I will be refused entry to the UK?

NO ANSWER PROVIDED

I am hesitant to apply - what could be the reason that I will be refused entry to the UK?

We recommend that you review the official Government refusal list and see if this is relevant to your situation prior to starting the process.

At ETA Express, we are a certified UK immigration service provider and we will not evaluate your eligibility unless you request us to do this at a cost prior to submitting your ETA. If you wish this service please press the link here for further details and a customer service account manager will get back to you within 48 hours.

What should I do if I am refused the ETA to the UK before my flight?

This refusal is discouraging, infuriating and very unfortunate, especially if you have already booked travel plans, flights, hotels and football tickets. Was it a technicality, or was it a serious problem such as an arrest or deportation in the past?
We have listed a breakdown of what you will now need to do after this ETA denial and the steps you can take to move forward:

Notification of Denial:
When your ETA application is refused, you will receive a notification, typically via email. While the reasons provided may be general, it’s really important to understand the notice carefully for the basis of the refusal and why the application was denied.

No Appeal Process:
Be aware that there is no formal appeals process for UK ETA refusals- you cannot press appeal and there is no phonecall to shout at or argue with the decision. The decision is usually final, leaving only one option to directly challenge it.

You will need to apply for a visitor visa from your country of residence:If your ETA is denied, you can still pursue your travel plans by applying for a standard UK visitor visa or another appropriate visa type. This requires you to go through a more traditional visa application process, which may be more detailed and time-consuming but allows for a more thorough review of your circumstances. Please note that this process of applying for a visa may take several weeks and there are different rules of submitting according to different countries of residency. If you are interested in one of our UK immigration agents assisting you through this process - please leave your details here and we shall revert back.

Are any ETA applications referred to a Home Office Officer under complex information?

Yes, a small number of cases may be referred and a result delayed in the case. If an application is flagged for review by a decision-maker due to potentially adverse information found in Home Office records, or self-declared criminal history, involvement

Is there a right to a review or appeal against a decision made on an ETA application?

No - there is no right to administrative review or appeal against a decision made on an ETA application.
